Saturday Trailer Wrap – 6/18/11

Movie-Trailers

Today marks this site’s 5 months.  It’s gone by pretty fast so I wanted to give you all a quick shout out and say thanks for sticking with me this far.  Not a whole lot came out this week by way of trailers but I have a few for you.  There’s some comedy and some sharks.  What a combo right?

The Art of Getting By

Wow, the guy who stars in this, Freddie Highmore is all grown up.  He’s the same kid who played Charlie Bucket in Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and is also the kid who played August Rush, in the film of the same name.  This film looks kind of cute.  Two teenagers finding love and finding themselves.  It’s all very sweet.  Until real life comes crashing down on them forcing them to re-examine their priorities!  Oh sorry…..the cynic in me got out for minute. Anyhoo….check it out. Emma Roberts also stars.  The Art of Getting By will charm the crap out of you on June 17th.

Lucky

This one stars Colin Hanks and Ari Graynor (the messy friend from Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist).  He’s a lucky guy who just won the lotto.  She’s the receptionist that works in his office.  He’s a serial killer with a thing blondes.  She is a blonde.  They get married, he keeps killing.  Hijinks ensue.  Lucky will slay you on July 15, 2011.

Dark Tide

This is the newest outing by Halle Berry.  She plays a diving instructor who survives a shark attack and agrees to go back into the water.  Why on earth would anyone do that?  Oliver Martinez also stars so perhaps he paid her ONE HUNDRED MEEEEEEELLION DOLLLLLLARS! But seriously, this looks…..meh.  I’m not sold just yet.  I will say they the signs point to needing a bigger boat.  Release date is to be announced.

Our Idiot Brother

I love Paul Rudd.  He just rocks.  In this film he plays the brother of Elizabeth Banks, Emily Mortimer and Zooey Deschanel.  He’s the kind of guy that believes in the good of man and is honest to a fault.  After a stint in prison and being dumped by his girlfriend, each sister takes a turn at housing him.  He drives them crazy but they soon realize that maybe his outlook on life is the one to have and they are left to examine their own lives.  It looks charming and funny and Paul Rudd looks to give a performance you’d expect.  His dry delivery makes this a perfect role for him.  Our Idiot Brother will bring the funny on August 26, 2011.

The Muppets Being Green Trailer

I’ve already posted on Muppets trailer and normally I wouldn’t post another, but this is a riff on The Green Lantern and it’s pretty funny.  And it’s only a minute long.  And it’s worth the watch.

Moneyball

Ohhhhh this looks really good.  I don’t watch baseball, I don’t like it, I just get bored.  Same goes for pretty much all sports with the exception of basketball.  But I love sports movies.  This one is based on a true story so it’s even better.  Brad Pitt stars as Oakland A’s manager Billy Beane as he tried to build a team out of pretty much nothing.  I foresee a grand slam when Moneyball hits theaters on September 23, 2011.

That’s it for this week folks.  Have a great weekend!
