The Hobbit: Production Video, Another Picture and News About Comic-Con

Peter Jackson

Peter Jackson has been busy.  There’s a treasure trove of new goodies that he’s posted to his Facebook page.  Instead of making you go through separate posts for them, I’ve included everything in one.  You may proceed.

First is news about Comic-Con, which is currently underway.  Jackson states that while the studios backed a presentation at the massive convention, Jackson himself felt it was too early.  Remember last video diary he posted, they had just finished shooting the first block.  You can bet that this film will have a presence at next year’s convention.  Here’s his original post about it:

Good news and bad news today. Bad news is that we won’t be doing any Hobbit presentation at Comic Con in San Diego this year. New Line and Warner Bros were very happy to support a presentation, but I declined, simply because I felt it was too early. There’s so much more of the films still to shoot. I just wanted to get that out there, because I’ve seen various references to the possibility of something Hobbity at Comic Con. Hate to disappoint anyone. But something tells me we will be there in force next year.

Next on the docket is a new photo.  This one premiered over at TheOneRing.net and shows Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield.  He’s pretty fierce-looking and dwarf or not, I wouldn’t want to be on his bad side.

As a young Dwarf prince, Thorin witnessed the destruction and terror wrought when a great fire-breathing Dragon attacked the Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. After slaughtering many of Thorin’s kin, the great serpent, Smaug, entered The Lonely Mountain and took possession of its vast store of gold and jewels. No-one came to the aid of the surviving Dwarves, and thus, a once proud and noble race was forced into exile. Through long years of hardship, Thorin grew to be a strong and fearless fighter and revered leader. In his heart a fierce desire grew; a desire to reclaim his homeland and destroy the beast that had brought such misery upon his people. So when fate offers him an unusual ally, he seizes the chance for revenge.

Finally we have the latest production video.  This is the best of the bunch so far and there’s a couple of surprise appearances by familiar faces.  This video focuses on the dwarves and the actors who play them.  I love the inside look these guys give to their characters and all the work that goes into making them look as fantastic as they do.  It’s a little bit longer than the last video but well worth it.  Be sure to watch the whole thing.

I’ll post more as it’s available.  In the meantime, you can keep up with me on Twitter and Facebook at www.twitter.com/baddladd, www.twitter.com/ReelGoddess and www.Facebook.com/ReelGoddess.
