The Goddess Goodie Wrap – 7/22/11
After compiling this week’s Goodie Wrap, I realized there’s a lot of space stuff going on in here. I guess it’s fitting considering Atlantis has returned and with it comes the end of the shuttle program. There’s a few Captain America things as well, which is again, fitting. Enough talk though….let’s get on with it.
Products:
BBQ Rockin’ Fork
I want it. I need it. I just ordered it. I don’t man the grill at home, that’s Roomie’s job. Bad things happen when I try to BBQ and it’s just not pretty. But with this thing I can get my dirt rocker on and pretend I’m a grillin’ master. Throw some AC/DC on and you’ve got yourself a party. (via Gama-Go)
12 Surface IQ Pentagon
As if the Rubik’s Cube wasn’t enough! This thing has 12 sides! I could never master this without taking it apart and putting it back together. C’mon….you know you did that with the standard Rubik’s Cube. I was never able to master more than two sides at one time. I know there’s a formula for solving it, but I just don’t have the patience for it. I certainly wouldn’t make it through this thing. (via Think Geek)
Art:
Captain America
Since Captain America comes out today it’s only fitting that I include something right? I’ve featured Olly Moss before. Way back in the first Goodie Wrap I believe it was. He did the combo Batman/Wolverine picture that was awesome. Anyway, he just did a couple of Captain America posters and they are pretty frakking cool. I do but love the one I’ve included. You can check out the other one on his blog. (via Olly Moss)
Neon Movie Posters
I featured this guy several weeks ago but figured I’d throw this in here because he’s got a few new ones. This one is fitting since it’s Captain America weekend. I love this guy’s work. These posters are inventive and fun and I want them all in my house! Unfortunately that isn’t going to happen. I’m pretty sure my roomies would draw the line. My plan for the life-size T-800 was already shot down sadly. (via Mr. Whaite’s Tumblr)

Incredible Photos
I really dig looking at examples of great photography. Especially anything related to space….you know, the final frontier. Anyway, I came across these two photos and wanted to share. Click on each photo to see them in all of their normal sized glory.
This first one is of an Aussie named Jacob French. He’s dressed as a Stormtrooper (except for the shoes) and is walking from Perth to Sydney. It’s a 2500 mile trek and he’s doing it to raise money for the Starlight Foundation, which is a charity that helps ill or hospitalized children in Australia. In the picture he stops to chat with a young boy, who clearly is a fan of the dark side. (via MSNBC Photo Blog)
This next photo is taken self-portrait style. This style of photography has been perfected by myself and roomie as we use it often. It takes a minute to get your bearing when looking at this one however. Looking at the reflection on the face shield you can see Earth, the ISS and the tail and cargo bay of Atlantis. Videos:
The fact that Sean Bean dies in pretty much everything he’s in is no secret. It’s rare for one of his character to NOT die in a film. He’s 100% man, as evidenced by his actions at a pub recently, and by the roles that he chooses. He was Boromir for crying out loud. And Ned Stark. Nothing else needs to be said. However, the fact remains that he dies, a lot. As a matter of fact, he’s got to hold some sort of record here. Someone should look into that. Montage video master Harry Hanrahan and compiled a video of Sean Bean death scenes for your viewing pleasure. It shouldn’t need to be said that spoilers abound. (via blastr)
We can be best friends except for that douche bag Pyro. Classic.
My Favorite Scenes:
Since it’s Comic-Con time I thought it appropriate to include my favorite scene from a comic book movie. Even though the film was sub-standard, this scene it awesome. It’s always stood out to me and if the rest of the film were exciting as this one scene, it would have been loads better. I give you, the airplane rescue scene from Superman Returns.
Random News & Tidbits
This first close up image of the asteroid Vesta is pretty frakking sweet. Hopefully this thing will stay put in the asteroid belt. Would hate to have to send Bruce Willis & Co. to blow it up. The shuttle program may be over, but NASA is still doing some cool things out there.
As if seeing the Northern or Southern Lights from the ground isn’t amazing enough, the ISS and Atlantis crew got to glimpse the Aurora Astralis (or Southern Lights) from orbit. Talk about one hell of a send off for Atlantis!
Ahhhh yes. The famous Wilhelm Scream. You may not realize it, but you’ve heard it a thousand times. Now find out its origins.
Boba Fett! Boba Fett! Where?! In his own movie perhaps?
Jell-O made from engineered human genes? Will they call it Soylent Green? Because SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!
This is the craziest article I’ve ever read on theories regarding our universe and everything in it. It’s complex and may break your brain…be warned.
That does it for this week so go forth my people! Have a great weekend!!
