The Goddess Goodie Wrap – 7/29/11
It’s been a crazy week what with scouring the web for all of the Comic-Con stuff from last weekend, reminiscing about that dreadful (even though I watched it) 21 Jump Street spin-off show Booker, and realizing that Billy Idol lost his punk(ish)-scene cred when he released Hot in the City. Then my nostalgia cup runneth over yesterday when I was inspired to listen to Duran Duran. Yes, the band so nice they named it twice mysteriously appeared on my Spotify. And speaking of Spotify….doesn’t that app rock? But enough about all that….on to the Goodie Wrap.
Before you do anything….go to this brewing company’s website and click on “I am under 21″. Hilarious!!
Less Is More
I really dig minimalist posters. Especially minimalist takes on film posters. It gets even better when it’s two images in one. There were loads to choose from and I had a hard time picking, but this one for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade made the cut precisely because it’s two images in one. Can you see it? (via Forever Geek)
And speaking of minimalist…..it doesn’t get much simpler than this. Christian Jackson has done several different minimalist takes on children’s books. This one was one of my favorites. I love how you know exactly what it represents when you see it. Be sure to check out all of the other ones as well. (via imagekind) (Thanks to Roy for pointing this out!)
Geek-tastic!
This makes me giddy and sad all at once. Giddy because how cool would it be to own this?! And sad because it seems to be a one-off. This Millennium Falcon bean bag chair/bed looks way cool, and rather comfy as well. This could be the center piece to any room and ups the rad factor considerably. This, paired with the Wampa rug would complete the perfect room. (via OhGizmo!)
It’s Bigger on the Inside
Dr. Who fans rejoice! Or at least Dr. Who fans in New York. Head on over to this little cafe and get your cup o’ Joe from the TARDIS. I would buy coffee here. Just to see it. Of course I’d have to have a peek to see if it is bigger on the inside than the outside. Why doesn’t this guy seem excited. He’s sitting in the TARDIS. THE TARDIS! (via That’s Nerdalicious via HITD via Neatorama)
Oh and speaking of the TARDIS…..as if the TARDIS Cafe wasn’t bitchin’ enough. This steampunk themed bar in Brooklyn has a TARDIS bathroom. Now that must be bigger on the inside right? I wish they had posted pictures of the inside. Does the decor continue? Are there little dalek’s serving as bathroom attendants? They should, because dalek’s are cool. (via That’s Nerdalicious via Geeks of Doom)
Dear God, WHAT is THAT!
This is frightening. Did you even see Creepshow 2? Remember that one story by Stephen King The Raft? Well that is exactly what this reminds me of. And it’s biological? And they found the remnants of a goose? All signs point to something sinister. You best watch out Alaska….this thing is coming for you. (via Geekologie)
Videos:
These recut trailers crack me up. The first one I saw was the recut trailer for Top Gun, which was….interesting. This one is for Batman Begins and it makes this film look like the heartwarming, inspiring film that it…..isn’t. Inspiring many to open a can of whoop-ass yes, but heartwarming…not so much. Anyhoo….here’s the story of Alfred and Bruce.
My Favorite Scenes
Warning: this one is NOT SAFE FOR WORK OR YOUNG EARS due to language.
Ok, now that that’s out of the way, this is one of the greatest scenes ever. I got to experience Pulp Fiction for the first time while sitting in a sold out crowd at Mann’s Chinese Theater. I’m not normally down with packed houses like that, but for this film, it was well worth it. Especially the sense of sheer horror and gasps that washed over the audience during this particular scene. The adrenaline injection scene. Absolutely classic.
Random News & Tidbits:
Apparently the Apple Store will allow for their customer so pull a lot of different stunts in their stores. Awesome.
Kids, there is something to be learned here. Alcohol can lead to bad things. Like ending up headfirst in a storm drain.
Who said the iPad isn’t useful? This guy, who some of you may recognize (hint….it’s Aidan from SyFy’s Being Human) gets his Star Wars theme on. There’s an app for that.
This is a Blu-Ray that everyone needs to have. Especially those with Dish Network since it wasn’t aired this past year.
This is……not ok. Slap some mayo and a couple of slices of olive loaf on here and you’ve got yourself a party.
As if the oceans don’t have enough crap in them. From garbage to retired war ships, I guess we can add another space station to that list as well.
Need to prepare of the inevitable zombie invasion? This is a must have. Well, because you just never know when you’ll need a shotgun that comes complete with a survival kit.
Fender benders are really just a gigantic headache to deal with….especially when it involves five exotic, stupid expensive cars.
