Saturday Trailer Wrap – 8/6/11

Movie-Trailers

Political thrillers, cheese-ball comedies, historical drama, suspense thrillers, this week has it all.  With the exception of an animated or kids film.  Sorry about that, maybe next week.  I even through in a vintage trailer just for fun.  Have to get to the end of the post to find out what it is though.  You may now proceed…

The Ides of March:

I love me a good political thriller and that’s exactly what this is.  Ryan Gosling stars as a campaign staffer who get tangled up in a political scandal during the final days of the Ohio presidential primary that could threaten his candidates chances.  Dirty politics always makes for good viewing.  The fact that George Clooney is in this as said candidate only helps matters.  See how this election turns out on October 7, 2011.

Tower Heist:

This is the latest from Brett “I killed the X-Men franchise” Ratner.  It stars Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy as well as a gaggle of other familiar faces.  The story focuses on a group fell prey to a business man who ran a Ponzi scheme using their hard-earned money.  Now they plan to take it back.  It’s a Brett Ratner film.  It may have some laughs, but I can’t take it seriously. You can catch this one in theaters on November 4, 2011.

Red Tails:

This is the newest film directed by George Lucas and is based on the true story of the Tuskegee Airmen.  They were the first African-American squadron of fighter pilots to fly in combat during World War II.  This looks really really good and has an amazing cast including, Terrance Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr, Bryan Cranston, and Gerald McRaney.  Red Tails flies into theaters on January 20, 2012.

Twixt:

Wow, I don’t even know where to start with this one.  Twixt is done by Francis Ford Coppola and it looks wild!  It’s macabre, and weird and has a David Lynch vibe to it in my opinion.  The cast is just as wild.  Val Kilmer, Bruce Dern, Elle Fanning, Ben Chaplin, and Joanne Whalley (who used to be married to Kilmer back in the day).  Just….watch it and judge for yourself if you’ll go see it when it’s released at some point this year.

The Caller:

Oh this one looks nice and creepy.  Rachel Lefevre and Stephen Moyer star in this one about a gal whose really old phone keeps ringing.  ON the other end of the line is a mysterious woman who’s calling from the 70′s.  The gal’s world gets rocked when bad stuff starts to happen.  This one hit theaters on August 26, 2011.

 Vintage Trailer:

Since there is a new Conan film coming out and since Conan the Barbarian was released on Blu-Ray this past Tuesday, I thought it fitting to include the original trailer.  Warning….it shows it’s age.
