The Goddess Goodie Wrap – 8/12/11
Crazy to think that this post marks #200 for this site. I can’t even believe how quickly the time has passed. The site has gone through a couple of changes which I’m sure you noticed. Pardon our dust as we continue to make little changes here and there. It’s been a crazy week and there are loads of new things to admire, crave and scoff at. Aside from my massive movie marathon I had last weekend and all these changes I’ve made, I’ve compiled a nice little Goodie Wrap for ya.
T-Shirts
You can never have too many T-Shirts right? Well, I don’t think you can. They’re versatile, and comfy and you can lounge around in them all day, or go out and run errands. Either way, depending on what’s on them, you’ll either get strange looks, stares from those trying to figure out what it means, or high-fives from those who get it. This Boba Fett Graffiti tee would get you the high-fives I bet. If it didn’t, I worry for our future. (via Split Reason)
And speaking of awesome T-Shirts, you can’t go wrong with a Starbucks styled Battlestar Galactica inspired T-Shirt. I would wear this. You bet I would! (via Split Reason)
Classic Star Wars Posters
Damn, Think Geek has done it again. I really need to stay off of that site because I could drop a serious dime. Now they’ve got reprinted classic Star Wars posters. You can order these and get a set of four, for only $11.99. $11.99! These are reprints of Star Wars only. No Empire or Jedi, at least not yet. I love the art represented here. They just don’t make them like this anymore! (via Think Geek)
Shot Glass of Doom
When someone asks you how you feel when you’re hung over, the normal response, at least in my circle is “I feel like death.” Well what better representation of the ill effects of booze, than this gorgeous skull shot glass. Know exactly what the result will be AS you drink yourself into a stupor*. This baby holds 2.5oz of liquid and it looks pretty darned cool. It’ll be available from Fred & Friends next month. (via That’s Nerdalicious)
*Reel Goddess does not condone drinking or getting stinking stupid drunk at all. Kids, stay away from the devil’s brew. It’ll only lead to bad decisions, a sick stomach and a whopper of a headache.
Walking Dead Lunchboxes
It’s back to school time and what better way to send your kid off than by sending them with this awesome old school, retro style Walking Dead lunch box. I’m not quite sure what the school staff would say however. This is available for pre-order only at the moment but will be released in October. So what’s for lunch today? BRRRAAAIIIINNNNSSSSS! (via Things from Another World)
Zombie 5K Race
Oh God….I wish this was taking place somewhere close to me. I’d TOTALLY do it! It’s a 5k. It’s an obstacle course. There are zombies! How much more can someone take? Fortunately for those in the north-east part of the country, and unfortunately for me, this even takes place in Baltimore. Good morning Baltimore! It takes place on October 22, 2011 and you can register on their official website. I’m seething with zombie jealousy! (via Run For Your Lives)
Cartoon Character Skeletons
Yes you read that right. Some crafty artist drew a slew of these and they’re pretty darned cool. The site shows cartoon characters as the full-bodied characters we know and love, then it also shows what their skeleton may look like if all of their flesh were peeled away to exposed bone. I know, it’s a little graphic, but that’s how I roll. Be sure to check out the Hello Kitty one. From the PowderPuff Girls, to the Peanuts, and even Pikachu too. Thanks Mishka for the tip! Favorite Scenes:
My favorite scene for this week is the opening sequence for Jaws. This is one of my most favorite films and it’s referred to as my “deer-in-the-headlights” movie. Every time it’s on, I HAVE to flip it over to see what part it’s on. This scene is great because of the fear it conveys. Susan Backlinie, the actress who played Chrissie, did an amazing job in this scene, right down her line of “it hurts”. Well yeah it hurts! Spielberg & Co. used a crude pulley-like system to move her back and forth in the water and while it may have been the only option for the time, the effect still gives me goosebumps.
Random News & Tidbits:
The riots going on in London are no laughing matter. But this tweet gets the award for Tweet of the Week.
This news doesn’t bode well for the second season of The Walking Dead. I really hope things turn around.
If you watch Haven, and are on Twitter, be sure to keep eyes on both tonight’s Twitter-integrated episode.
Remember that talk about SETI shutting down? Thanks to Jodie Foster and others, the installation is ok to go.
Love those actors who ham it up when playing the villains? Topless Robot put together a list of 10. And it’s superb!
Mark Cuban offers up his advice on how to get rich. He’s obviously doing something right.
Cinemax is stepping into the original programming arena (sorry the After Dark series don’t count) with the premier of their original series Strike Back airing tonight. They’re also filming a series called The Transporter based on the movies made famous by Jason Statham.
This is a really creepy ad and I don’t like it at all.
