NBC’s The Firm Lands Two Former BSG’ers
I don’t do much posting on casting updates or news bits but since this involves ex-BSG’ers how could I possibly resist. We all know BSG is my weakness so you can expect when I hear something regarding upcoming shows/movies etc, I’m going to post about it.
Since NBC passed on Ron Moore’s 17th Precinct I’ve been kind of bummed that the BSG alums haven’t been seen much. I was excited to see Keith Callum Rennie in Alphas, then was sad when he got whacked. Michael Hogan and Ty Olsson popped up in Ice Road Terror and Aaron Douglas will be seen in the movie Killer Mountain airing this Saturday on SyFy. But aside from that it’s been a little quiet on the BSG cast new front.
Good news is TV Line has reported that NBC has picked up, not one, but two former cast members for their new show, The Firm. You may recognize the name and it is an adaption of John Grisham’s novel of the same name. You’ll also remember that Tom Cruise starred in the film adaption of the same novel.
This time around it’s set in Washington D.C. and Tricia Helfer (Six) will play one of the high-powered lawyers at the firm that Mitch McDeere (Josh Lucas) goes to work at. Keith Callum Rennie (Leoben) will play Mitch’s older brother, formerly played by David Strathairn in the film.
Juliet Lewis and Molly Parker (Alma from Deadwood) also star as Mitch’s assistant and wife respectively. That’s quite a cast if you ask me. I’m not much into the legal dramas, but if I were to ask the Magic 8-ball if I need to watch this, the answer would most likely be: all signs point to yes.
Production is currently underway so we’ll see this one air mid-season.
