See Joseph Gordon-Levitt Haul Ass on a Bike in the New Premium Rush Trailer
Normally I bundle all of the new trailers into one post that goes up at the end of the week. Every once in a while a trailer pops up that deserves its own post and this is actually one of them. I know…a trailer about a bike messenger movie? But honestly, this one is worth it.
First off, it stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Michael Shannon. Both of these guys are all over the place these days and I, for one, am happy about that. Both are great actors who bring something special to each of their roles and I’m sure this film is no different.
JGL is …yep, you guessed it, a bike messenger who picks up a package that a dirty cop, played by Michael Shannon, wants to get his dirty mitts on. JGL refuses to give up the good, thus setting off what looks like a nice white knuckle chase through the streets of Manhattan.
Sounds pretty fun right? Well it looks fun too and the trailer does a great job of selling it. This will no doubt be compared to the 1986 Kevin Bacon film Quicksilver since he played a bike messenger in New York too. There was also a bad guy, but he was actually a drug dealer. I can’t really think of too many other bike messenger movies. In the TV show Dark Angel, Jessica Alba’s character worked as a bike messenger but aside from that I’m drawing blanks.
Anyhoo….This looks way better than Quicksilver was. Given, that was the 80′s. What I really dig about this trailer is that the action looks pretty damned good. This is one that looks like it lays on the gas and doesn’t let up until the end. At least I hope that’s how it is. Check it out and let me know what you think.
Premium Rush is directed by David Koepp, and rides into theaters on January 13th, 2012.
