The Goddess Goodie Wrap – 9/23/11
It’s a quickie this week folks. It’s been quite a week here in Crazytown so I do apologize for the shortness of this week’s Goodie Wrap. For some reason it was shaping up to be a Star Wars themed Goodie Wrap but luckily I found some non-Star Wars stuff to share.
Superhero Spatulas
So I was tinkering about on Williams-Sonoma the other day checking out their fun Star Wars baking stuff and I actually came upon their new line of Marvel Superhero stuff. Spatulas, and cookie cutters and even a cakelet pan! A cakelet…you know, little cakes….anyway, they’re pretty cool and fun and I want these spatulas bad! (via Williams-Sonoma)
Tweet of the Week
Facebook changed their layout….AGAIN and the people are none too happy. As of this writing it hasn’t hit mine yet so I can’t say good things or bad things yet. But the discontent has been all over Twitter. One side, and it’s a big one is ranting about it and the other side is telling them to chill out. George Takei (Sulu from Star Trek) is on Team Chill Out and his tweet earns the Tweet of the Week award.
The Copilot He Is Hmmmmmm
So this might be taking the Star Wars obsession a little far, but it makes for a great photo opp. And if I were to pass by this car, you can bet I’d stop and take a pic too. I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again. (Thanks to Augustine for sending me this.)
Propaganda Posters
I adore propaganda style posters and I’ve featured them on this site in the past. I was browsing a website called MacGuffin and Puffin and found this awesome Wonder Woman poster. It was created by an artist named Paul Sizer and it’s pretty awesome. I will admit at first glance, my first thought was “Pocahontas”. But it’s not…it’s Wonder Woman. My bad. Anyhoo….check it out and then head over to MacGuffin and Puffin to look at the other goodies they have.
Best. Bathroom sign. EVER!
I came across this in the 11th hour and actually cackled. You could see the HA HA HA’s leave me just like the letters from the caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland. I love this so much and would probably have to use the facilities if I had been the one to spot this. (via Nerd Approved)
Best. Cosplay. Ever.
Normally when a gal dresses up as a character from Star Wars the first thing people think of is “Slave Leia”. Well not this gal. She decided to go a step further and create a costume of the most menacing force in Star Wars. No, not Darth Vader. The Death Star. It’s cute. It doesn’t look too terrible uncomfortable although sitting down may pose some issues. Regardless, it’s full of win. Jennifer Landa, you my dear get the dramatic slow-clap for your efforts in pulling this off. And a bonus slow clap for that awesome TIE fighter hair accessory. Videos:
Ok, this is kind of NSFW due to language but it is rather funny. wehoguy30 did his own rendition of the opening song from Beauty and the Beast and I couldn’t help but laugh. Thanks to Roy for sending the link.
And now for something completely different. If you’ve followed me for any length of time you’ll already know that I have a love for space and anything concerning space. I came across this video on Dvice that shows a time lapse of what it looks like to see our little blue marble of a planet spin from the view of the ISS. This is a really amazing, short video and you should check it out. My favorite part is when you can see the flecks of lightning in the clouds. It’s just…beautiful.
Random News & Tidbits
Whoever said gaming will rot your brain needs to read this article about how gamers helped scientist crack the HIV/AIDS enzyme. Pretty cool stuff.
The scientists at CERN believe one of their experiments resulted in neutrinos moving quicker than the speed of light. They will publish their findings to be scrutinized by the public in hopes of confirming or debunking their results. Insert Keanu “WHOA!” here.
Oh Netflix. I’m probably one of the few that doesn’t really give a rip about them splitting into two companies but I see where others are coming from. This piece explains the business side of things and makes sense.
