Saturday Trailer Wrap – 9/24/11
Well this week has been a bit better in the trailer department thank goodness. We may be officially out of the summer movie season, but the holiday movie season is quickly approaching. Then that’s followed by the time of year that is normally reserved for cast-offs. Anyhoo…..check out the trailers for this week and let me know what you think.
The Grey
Liam Neeson just….makes me happy. I love love love him and in this one he seems to be just an intense as ever. He stars as an oil rig worker whose plane crashes in the in the Alaskan wilderness. He leads his fellow survivors and they fight off the elements, as well as a hungry pack of wolves. The Grey hits theaters on January 27, 2012.
J. Edgar
This is based on the true story of J. Edgar Hoovers life and is directed by Clint Eastwood. Leonardo DiCaprio stars at the man himself and it looks to be yet another stand out role for him. He’s come such a long way and I have to say I’ve really come to like his work a lot. He was one of those actors that used to get under my skin, but over the years he’s managed to thaw my frozen heart. Armie Hammer (formerly the Winklevoss twins in The Social Network), Judi Dench, Naomi Watts, Jeffrey Donovan and Josh Lucas all star. J. Edgar hit theaters on November 9, 2011.
Seeking Justice
Another one starring Nicolas Cage. He’s been a busy boy lately. This time his wife, played by January Jones, is brutally assaulted and a mysterious man, played by Guy Pearce, comes to him offering him justice. He soon realizes that justice has its own price tag. There is no US release date for this yet. Keep your eyes open.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
So I posted the original trailer for this last week, but a new trailer has been released. This one is a bit longer and actually shows a more in-depth look at the film and also includes actual dialogue. I hate to say I’m getting excited for this because once again, I don’t think an American version is necessary, but I’m kind of getting excited for this. Check it out on December 21, 2011.
Man on a Ledge
This was actually the first I’ve heard of this one and I’m pretty impressed so far. Sam Worthington stars as an ex-cop and ex-con who steps out onto the ledge of a New York City high-rise. While negotiators, police and crowds gather, he tries to proclaim his innocence against the shrewd business man he thinks set him up. Since this role seems confined mostly to small movements on a ledge, I think it’ll give Worthington a chance to flex those dramatic acting muscles of his. I like him and would like to see more range so hopefully this is it. Elizabeth Banks, Ed Harris, Edward Burns and Jamie Bell also star. Man on a Ledge hits theaters on January 13, 2012.
