Saturday Trailer Wrap – 11/5/11

Movie-Trailers

Well this week is better than the last couple as far as trailers go.  We’ve got a new trailer for M:I4, the feature film remake of 21 Jump Street as well as a new creepy film called The Innkeepers and a dark-ish animated feature called , a rather racy, raunchy teen comedy and the new Denzel Washington / Ryan Reynolds flick, Safe House.  Which one are you looking forward to the most?

 Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol

This is the second trailer for the fourth M:I film and it does a really great job of whetting the appetite.  I originally rolled my eyes when I heard they gave a fourth installment the go ahead, but after seeing the two trailers, I’m feeling like this is going to be really good.  Tom Cruise is back along with Simon Pegg and this time they’re joined by Jeremy Renner who is apparently being primed to take over the franchise.  Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to see this when it hits theaters on December 21, 2011.

ParaNorman

This is an animated feature that follows a misunderstood boy who can speak with the dead as he battles zombies, witches, ghosts and the like.  Probably not a great choice for the little ones, as it looks rather dark.  But it could be fun for the older kids and even some adults, like myself.  ParaNorman hits theaters on August 17, 2012.  Not like you have wait very long or anything.

The Innkeepers

Man….where was this movie in October?!  This film spins a scary yarn about two employees who work at a supposedly haunted hotel during its last weekend of operation.  They decide that it’s a good time to investigate all the strange goings on and get proof that the hotel is actually haunted.  Of course creepy things are afoot and the duo get more than they bargained for.  Sara Paxton, Pat Healy and Kelly McGillis star in this one.  On a sidenote, when a medium tells you to not go into the basement.  Listen to her!  The Innkeepers hits theaters on February 3, 2012.

Project X

This is the new from Todd Phillips, the man who brought us The Hangover.  This one however deals with a high school boy who has a house party that quickly escalates to ridiculous levels.  I expect this to be crude and raunchy, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.  Project X hits theaters on March 2, 2012.

21 Jump Street

At first I was hoping this was a bad dream.  Even though, looking back, the show was pretty bad, it still holds a special place in my childhood.  After watching this trailer, I’m still not convinced that it needed to be resurrected.  Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum star in this one along with Ice Cube and word on the street is that Johnny Depp will pop up for cameo.  I just…..don’t know.  We’ll see how it goes down on March 16, 2012.  My one question is: Will they revamp the original theme? FYI, this is the red band trailer so be warned….there be foul language here folks.

Safe House

This movie stars Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds and I think that’s all that needs to be said.  Ok, I’ll say more.  A CIA safe house in Cape Town is targeted once a rogue CIA agent is brought in.  The facility’s resident house-sitter gets his field experience by getting the prisoner to another secure location.  This one looks really good and I adore both of these guys.  Denzel is just quality in everything he does and I love when Reynolds goes for the more dramatic roles.  Safe House hits theaters on February 10, 2012.
