The Hunger Games Finally Gets a Full Trailer

The Hunger Games Banner

While I haven’t read the books yet, I do know that there’s a fair amount of anticipation regarding this film.  It seems like Twilight was so yesterday and today it’s all about The Hunger Games.  We got a super quick teaser a while back and now we get a look at a full length trailer that actually gives those of us with no prior knowledge something to chew on.

The film is set in the ruins of North America where every year, the Capitol selects one teenage boy and one teenage girl from each of the 12 districts to train and compete in a live televised event called The Hunger Games.  Each contestant has to fight to the death until there is only one winner remaining.

Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) volunteers to represent her district in an effort to save her younger sister.  Pitted against 23 others, she must rely on her instincts, training and the mentorship of a former winner to survive the gruesome contest.

The Hunger Games is directed by Gary Ross and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Lenny Kravitz, and Elizabeth Banks.

I’ve talked to people who have read the books and have heard that they are really good so hopefully the film adaptions will do them justice.  The Hunger Games is released on March 23, 2012 (trailer via Coming Soon)
