The Dark Knight Rises First Theatrical Trailer

The Dark Knight Rises Banner

Finally!  We finally get to see a peek at one of the most anticipated films of 2012.  There was a teaser released back in July that didn’t show much aside from Commissioner Gordon talking to someone while laying in a hospital bed.  There haven’t even really been any details on the synopsis.

What we know so far is that Christian Bale returns as Gotham’s Caped Crusader to do battle with Tom Hardy’s Bane.  Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Cillian Murphy and Michael Cane are all returning.  Also starring is Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.  It’s like Inception…but in a Batman film.

We saw the beginnings of a viral campaign in the form of two “leaked” documents concerning a Dr. Leonid Patel.  There was a third document released  that lead to a countdown clock all leading up to the 6-minute prologue that aired before Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol in select IMAX theaters.

I was pretty excited to see the prologue but the only thing I walked away with is a hope that they clean up Bane’s dialogue because you can’t understand hardly any of it.  This trailer moves pretty quickly showing Bane, Bruce Wayne, Selina Kyle, Alfred, and big effects scene concerning a football field.  This is yet another trailer that shows quite a bit, but doesn’t reveal hardly anything about the story as a whole.  If this trailer succeeds at any one thing, it ramps up my anticipation of this film even more.

The Dark Knight Rises is the third Batman film directed by Christopher Nolan and will hit theaters on July 20, 2012.
