The Goddess Goodie Wrap – 1/27/12

Goodie Wrap Header - Large

So the scuttlebutt this week was all about the Oscars.  Who got snubbed, who didn’t and who deserves what.  I hate to admit that I’ve been a bit of a slacker this year and haven’t seen a lot of what was nominated.  It doesn’t help that I live in a city that doesn’t get the indie films or lesser known titles, but hey, that’s what Redbox is for right?  Anyhoo….enough about all that.  It’s Friday, Friday gotta get down on Friday….

Enterprise Coffee Table

So I’ve discovered that Etsy has some pretty cool stuff.  Take this Enterprise coffee table for example.  We’ve already seen the Han Solo in Carbonite coffee table, which was pretty bad ass.  This one is a rather fine work of craftsmanship and can be yours for the low low price of $3100.  Yeah, it’s pricey, but really it’s a two-fer.  You’re getting a functional piece of furniture AND a piece of art.  How can you say no? (via Etsy)

And Speaking of Etsy…

As if the coffee table wasn’t rad enough, I also came across these.  The original post I found showed custom made Darth Vader and R2D2 aprons that were really really cool.  So I went to this gal’s Etsy page and found that she made a Wonder Woman apron too!  I’ve seen other WW aprons, as well as Vader but they don’t compare to these.  The prices are a little steep for an apron, but really you can’t put a price on looking good while working around the house.  I want this WW apron so. frakking. bad.  Be sure to check out her Etsy page, HauteMess Threads because she’s got loads of others themes including Harry Potter, Star Trek, and Disney.  Games

Greetings, Starfighter. You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the frontier against Xur and the Ko-Dan armada …” If you know that quote then you’ve no doubt wished you could play the game.  Well now you can thanks to a brilliant group of geniuses.  The band of merry programmers known as Rogue Synapse have created a playable, free version that you can download on your PC.  Sorry Apple users, there’s no Mac version.  I haven’t tried this but head over to the Rogue Synapse site to check it out.  Maybe Roomie will download it and test it out for me (hint…hint….) Going Too Far

If I remember correctly, a while back I posted a LOTR tattoo that showed just how far some fans take their appreciation for certain things.  Well, here’s another one.  This time it’s Jango Fett….holding baby Boba Fett.  I find this all kind of creepy especially with the angelic Greedo.  Just……no. Big Blue Marble

I had to follow that wretched tattoo picture up with something nice and pretty.  Those who know me know I’m a sucker for globes and pictures of the Earth.  This one, taken by NASA’s shiny new weather satellite, Soumi NPP has provided a series of photos that NASA pieced together to make this amazing, detailed photo of Mother Earth.  Hard to believe that there is so much drama going on down on the surface right?  From space, it looks like a beautiful, peaceful, utopian planet.  This photo is a smaller version of the whopping 8,000 megapixel original which you can find here. Tweet of the Week

Every once in a while I come across something on Twitter that gets more than just a chuckle.  With news of the Navy SEAL’s rescuing the two kidnapped aid workers in Somolia a few days ago, Twitter has seen it’s fair share of tweets regarding the event.  This one, published by @cluefairy actually got a HAHAHA, therefore, earning the Tweet of the Week.

For the Dr. Who Fan

I’ve seen a lot of TARDIS stuff in my quest to find Goodie Wrap worthy items, and this one is probably one of the best.  Etsy seller Amber Whitney, designs and sells these 8″ TARDIS clocks for $42.  It may seem steep for a clock, but c’mon.  It’s handmade, and it’s pretty.  Set it out and call it art.  (via Nerd Approved)

Always Be Prepared

It’s one thing to be prepared for a rainy day (which I rarely am), but it’s something else entirely to be prepared for the inevitable Zombie Apocalypse.  I’m not sure how one could fully prepare for such an event, but owning this baby would definitely help.  It’s the Zombie X (for exterminator) created by Doublestar.  It’s got a functioning chainsaw and a holographic sight that projects a bio hazard sign on the target.  It’s a prototype but apparently this thing might just make it to market. (via Nerd Approved)

Video

I don’t like this at all.  It’s creepy and weird and the first step in robotic world domination.  Apparently this was created by a British bloke named Chris Clake for an “upcoming, unnamed television show”.  Whatever the reason, this thing ranks with clowns on the creepy scale.  This, my friends, is what nightmares are made of. (via dvice)

I’m only posting this because who doesn’t need some dancing stormtroopers to brighten up their Friday.  A word of warning however, once you watch this, you can’t un-see.  It will be burned into your brain FOREEEVVVVEEERRRR!  And that song is an earworm. (via Kotaku)
