Shortfilm Spotlight: Rest

Rest Banner

The internet can be like a treasure chest in that there are times when one finds a real gem amongst the piles and piles of rubbish that’s out there.  That’s exactly what happened when I came across this short film.  I was toodling about on Vimeo the other day just scoping out different videos for this week’s Goodie Wrap.  What I found struck a chord with me and I felt that it shouldn’t be included in the Goodie Wrap.  It deserved its own post.

The film, titled Rest, was created by Sunday / Paper, which is the collaborative efforts of Cole Schreiber and David Parker.  They have their own Vimeo channel, and they also have a website so be sure to check them out.

Rest is about a young soldier who died during World War I and was buried in Europe.  Ninety years later he unearths himself and travels across the globe looking for peace.  Rest is dark, gripping and visually stunning.  It’s beautifully shot with moments of quiet reflection and it manages to pull the viewer in without uttering a single word of dialogue.

Take 12 minutes and watch this film now.  It’s totally worth it.

Rest from Sunday Paper on Vimeo.
