New Photos from The Expendables 2 are Chuck Norris Approved

Expendables 2 - Banner

Ok…so two years ago when The Expendables came out I’ll admit, I was beside myself.  Yes, I squealed with glee when I watched the trailer and saw the cast that Sylvester Stallone gathered for the film.  Of course at the time everyone was asking the same questions.  Where’s Van Damme?  Where’s Seagal?  And the most important of questions: where’s Norris?  The question , it turns out, would be answered with the sequel, aptly titled, The Expendables 2.  This time around Jean Claude Van Damm AND Chuck Norris are both present.  Still no Steven Seagal but that could be a good thing.  What with his show True Justice and all but I’ll address that mess in another post.  We’re here to talk about the testosterone filled sequel to 2010′s massively popular action film.

Needless to say I adored The Expendables.  I even defended my opinion of it on the other site I write for, HeyUGuys.  If you’re interested, you can find that article here.  So since I loved the first film, it’s a given that I’m over the moon about the sequel.  Here’s the official synopsis:

Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Ceasar (Terry Crews) — with newest member Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard — are reunited with Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job.  The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of  old-school mercenaries.  But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them.  Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down and unexpected threat in the nick of time – six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world.  But that’s nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother.

That is done the Expendables way…

Oh dear lord it just doesn’t get much better than that am I right?  Along with those already mentioned above, Arnold Schwarzenegger is back too, which makes this movie action gold!  The film comes out in August and we’re finally getting a peek at some stills taken from the film.  While I don’t normally post stills from films, I just couldn’t help myself with these.  The first photo shows the Stallone striking an action pose, the second shows the holy trinity getting their ammo on, while the third gives us a glimpse of Mr. Roundhouse Kick himself.  The more I talk about it, the more excited I get.

The film is directed by Simon West (The Mechanic) and hits theaters on August 17, 2012.  Check out the photos and poster below as well as the teaser trailer.
