The Goddess Goodie Wrap – 5/4/12
The Goodie Wrap has been on hiatus for the last few weeks, but it’s back this week because today is May 4th. And with that I have to say….May the 4th be with you. Yes yes, I know it’s a horrible pun, but it makes me laugh regardless and I figured I should get in the spirit of things. For those who don’t care about Star Wars, I’ve thrown some things non-SW related as well. But of course I had to include a little bit of Star Wars….hence the picture below. Poor dog….he probably hates his owner and I’m sure he finds your lack of faith disturbing.
Superhero Rain Coats
Now, I’m not sure if they had these when it was actually the rainy season, but how cool is this? Since your kids are at your mercy when it comes to their wardrobe, the least you could do is put them in something fun when they have to bundle up for rain. Plain rain coats are so boring, why not kick it up a notch with this Batman raincoat? You’re kid can be the Caped Crusader while running around stomping in puddles. The other kids will be green with envy. There is also a Superman raincoat available too. (via Think Geek)
Kick Ass Fire Breathing Remote Controlled Dragon is Full of Win
Rick Hamel is a genius. He built this remote-controlled dragon, which he calls “Mythical Beast”, out of 60+ molded parts. It took over a year to complete, but his finished product is sleek, beautiful and it breathes fire. I’ll say that again…..IT BREATHES FIRE! It’s also huge measuring over seven feet in length with a nine foot wingspan. There is an empty field by my house that walk by on the weekends and there is always a group of guys out there flying their remote-controlled planes. I wonder what they would think if someone showed up with this thing. Click the link to check out the video of this thing in action. (via Nerd Approved)
Personalized Superhero Art
A couple of weeks ago I posted a link to a site that will create a personalized superhero action figure. This week, it’s all about the personalized superhero art. A company called The Comics Factory will take a photo of you (or you and your partner, kid etc.) and render it into a superhero scene that looks like it’s taken straight from a comic. This is a great idea for a gift or a fun take on an engagement photo or something of the sort. Yeah, ok, it’s a little pricey, starting at $110, but it’s cool right? And you can’t put a price on cool. Click the link to check out the site along with other examples. (via Nerd Approved)
Dead Tauntaun Cake
I’ve featured other Star Wars cakes in the past, but I think this is my favorite. It goes against the grain a bit by not being a cake of Darth Vader, Yoda, R2D2 or the Death Star. While some of those cakes are pretty awesome, I love the idea that someone had the gumption to create the dead tauntaun scene. Let’s just hope they didn’t recreate the smell. (via Gadget Review)
Punisher Night Light
One thing I’ve always really liked about the Punisher is the symbol. There is just something about the skull that I find really cool….I think it’s the evil shaped eyes. Now they’ve got this swell night-light of the symbol and if I had a decent place to display it, I’d totally get it. There is one outlet in the kitchen that is begging for it, but I think the Roomies would put a kibosh on it. If the Punisher isn’t really your thing, they also have loads of others including a Wonder Woman one. Now that’s the one I need! (via Superhero Stuff)
My Little (Stormtrooper) Pony
I wasn’t the type of girl who played with dolls or ponies, or Barbie’s for that matter. Strawberry Shortcake was my arch nemesis and I never owned a My Little Pony. I read books, did puzzles, and watched movies. Now, had this My Little (Stormtrooper) Pony been around back in the day, I totally would have owned this. This was emailed to me by a friend who thought of me when she saw it on Pintrest. She knows me so well!
Weapon of Mass Instruction
Raul Lemesoff has taken it upon himself to spread the gift of literacy through the streets of Argentina. He converted and old Ford Falcon (which ironically belonged to the Argentinian Army) into a traveling library. What’s really cool is the fact that he doesn’t charge for the books, but instead, gives them away for free. His inventory comes from donations, and apparently he has to restock rather often. For a horribly over-dubbed news story on Raul, click here. I really love this idea and will be the first to admit that if I saw this on the side of the road, I would totally browse. I’m a sucker for libraries and book stores. A library car? Hell yes. (via Laughing Squid)
Bottomless Bathroom
I know several people who suffer from what we call stage fright. It doesn’t have anything to do with performing in front of an audience, but instead, it has everything to do with not being able to pee when others are in earshot. Another term is pee-shy. I suspect that even those who don’t suffer from that affliction may find it difficult to use this bathroom, especially if they’re afraid of heights. I don’t suffer from either but I think even I might think twice before entering this room. Built on top of an abandoned elevator shaft in a renovated colonial building in Guadalajara, Mexico, Architect Hernandez Silva must have laughed maniacally thinking of all the people who would be scare shitless once they realized what they were standing on. Best Craigslist Ad Ever!
Craigslist is chock full of stuff that is crap, NSFW, and morally questionable. But every once in a while there’s a real gem amongst the rubble. The Best of Craigslist normally has some pretty good stuff and if this ad hasn’t made it on there yet, it should. The guy who posted this ad wanted to sell his teal 1995 Pontiac Grand Am GT. Once you read the ad, you’ll wish you had seen it earlier so that you could have had a shot at buying this car. (via Cubicle Bot) As a sidenote, check out the interview that Jalopnik did with the guy who sold the car and the guy who designed the ad.
Cosplay…This Guy is Doing it Right
Cosplay pictures are all over the internet and the majority of them are….let’s just say they’re not the best. This guy though…..this guy takes the crown for his functioning Iron Man costume. I wonder though….when the face shield goes down, does he have the cool heads up display? Or the sound of Jarvis in his ear. Regardless, everyone else needs to step up their game in order to compete with this dude. (via Blastr)
Push to Add Drama
In a little town in Belgium…in a square where nothing really happens….the best PR stunt EVER is about to take place. Apparently when this video was made TNT was making its debut on Belgian television so they decided to inform the townsfolk of just what they were in for. You have to watch the video to truly appreciate their efforts. I would love to see something like this. (via PR Examples)
