Daniel Craig Returns as James Bond in the New Skyfall Trailer

Skyfall Banner

With the release of this, the first trailer for the new 007 film Skyfall, all I can say is thank God that the whole MGM bankruptcy debacle got worked out and that this film is actually getting made.  I loved Casino Royale and how the new Bond took a more gritty turn with the arrival of Daniel Craig.  Quantum of Solace wasn’t quite as good, but that film suffered through the writer’s strike as well as an inexperienced director.  Regardless, I still enjoyed it…just not as much as Casino Royale.

Word hit long ago that Sam Mendes would be directing this film and from the looks of this trailer, he’s got his finger firmly on the pulse of what a Bond movie should be.  There looks to be a lot of action, a lot of different locations and beautiful women.  But most importantly, it’s got Daniel Craig’s gritty Bond and Judi Dench’s M.

The film also hosts a slew of other talent with Javier Bardem taking on the role of the big bad.  Ralph Fiennes, and Albert Finney also star so this film is not lacking in the name department.  I’m always nervous about watching trailers because these days they show entirely too much.  This one does exactly what it should.  At a short 1:23 it only whets the appetite which is just fine by me.  Now that I’ve seen this, I’ll do my best to stay away from other trailers and stills because I don’t want to know anything else.

Check out the trailer below, as well as the full size new poster that was released last week.  Skyfall hits theaters on November 9, 2012.
