Friday Fun: Bad Guys Making the Mundane Look Evil

GQ Villians

There are three kinds (at least in my book) of evil characters: the ones you just hate, the ones you love to hate, and the ones where you don’t care that they’re bad guys because you love the character so much.  Actors that fill these roles have to have a certain je ne-sais quoi.  May favorite bad guy of late is Mark Strong.  He’s A-MAZE-ING! And the fact that he sports a chrome dome doesn’t hurt either.  Anyway, GQ put together a portfolio of actors who are known for their evil characters and the results are awesome.  The list of actors include Mark Strong, Malcolm McDowell, Ron Perlman, Jack Gleeson, Benecio Del Toro, John Hawkes and Walton Goggins.

I’ve included a few of the videos from the profile below, but be sure to head over to GQ to watch the rest as well as the video interviews.

Mark Strong

He was awesome as Lord Blackwood in Sherlock Holmes, and as Godfrey in Robin Hood and Frank D’Amico in Kick Ass.  He’s just incredible no matter what he’s in.  Even in this video, doing a task that irritates everyone I know.  Watch and see.

Jack Gleeson

Joffrey is one character that I absolutely hate with every fiber of my being.  Both in the books and on the show.  He’s a son of a bitch in every way.  Jack Gleeson plays the part so incredible well that watching this, and then watching the interview portion is watching two completely different people.

Benecio Del Toro

I love this one because I can totally relate!  I won’t give anything away, just watch to the end.  What I love about Benecio Del Toro is he can go from someone you just want to hug, to someone you just want to run from in the beat of a heart.

Head over to GQ to check out the rest of the videos.  It’s worth the time and everyone needs a break.  It is Friday after all.
