Last year Cinemax pulled a fast one on me with their original series, Strike Back.  Originally a British series, Cinemax has taken it on as its own and after a bloody, explosive, sex and death filled first (or second if you count the original British series) season, it’s finally back.  And from what the new trailer shows, it’s back with a vengeance.

Picking up after the events of last season, this season shows Stonebridge (Phillip Winchester) sticking close to home and training recruits, while Scott (Sullivan Stapleton) is doing what he does best.  If you watched last season you know exactly what that is.  From the quick cuts of this trailer it looks like there are some pretty big names co-starring this season.  Rhona Mitra joins the cast this year and I swear I saw Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest) and Charles Dance (Game of Thrones).  I could be wrong, but it sure looked like them in the trailer.

One thing I admired about this show is how no one was safe.  They killed off a few main characters last season, so I’m really curious to see what will happen in the span of ten episodes this season.  The other component that makes this show work is the chemistry between the two leading men.  They irritate the crap out of each other, yet will always have each other’s back.  Anyhoo….check out the trailer and be sure to tune in to Cinemax on August 17th for the season premier.
