I can see your point. I took his lack of personality as a sign of his coldness. Without giving any spoilers away in case someone who hasn’t seen it yet reads this, I was disappointed with the end result.

I liked this movie quite a bit, but it did have its flaws. I wasn’t impressed with the way they handled Bane’s character and I wish he had a little more punch as far as his personality and energy is concerned.

i thought it was very well done as well. though i did have some issues with the way catwoman was written and how hathaway was not a good fit for me, but it all came together by the end.

Hi Adam! I’m beginning to think I’m in the minority with my feelings toward this film. I did notice some of the holes but for some reason they just didn’t bother me. When I left the theater I was hell-bent on saying that this one eclipsed The Dark Knight for me. After reflecting on it for a few days, I’d say they’re even.

Anne Hathaway really kind of blew me away. I like her and think she’s a more than capable actor, but I wasn’t sure how the whole “catwoman” thing was going to play out. Kudos to her for making it work and not be cheesy and trite.

As for the action, I’ll get back to you after I see it again….not in a D-Box seat. The unscored scene however, was pretty brutal. And I almost did a spit take with my coffee on the “Sean Connery with two jelly donuts” comment. Well played sir. The voice is my biggest issue.

While I enjoyed this film for many of the same reasons you pointed out in your excellent review, I don’t think I loved it quite as much as you did. I had issues with some of the plot points that seemed a bit too familiar from other films or far fetched even for a super hero film. Similarly while I found Bane’s physicality impressive, he seemed to lack the level of gravitas that I have come to expect from villains in this series. I’m sure it didn’t help that he sounded like Sean Connery with two jelly donuts in his mouth.
I did walk away very impressed with the perormance of Anne Hathaway, which caught me really off guard. JGL was great as usual but I only wish they had moved up his reveal to the 1st third of the film. How cool would that have been?

Strangely, I also wanted more action in this film. I would have cut out the whole boys town aspect, the overdone social commentary and Matthew Modine to make room for more biff boom pow.

This is still a very good film, but at least in my opinion the weak sister of the trilogy.
