The World Gets Two Man of Steel Teasers
I hate teasers. Especially when they’re released 85 years before the movie is due to hit theaters. Ok, so that’s an exaggeration, but still….this film is still over 10 months away. To make it easy, we’ll just say a year. Anyway, with the release of The Dark Knight Rises came not one, but two new teasers for the highly anticipated return of Superman. The Man of Steel teasers do just that….they tease. You don’t see a whole lot aside from Clark working on a crab boat, and a little boy running through a field with a make-shift cape.
Each teaser contains the exact same footage, but what differs is the over-lapping dialogue. One is voiced by Kevin Costner, who plays Clark’s human father, Jonathan Kent. The second is voiced by Russell Crowe, who plays Supes real daddy, Jor-El. The version I got in the theater over the weekend was the Kevin Costner version. I’ve since watched the Russell Crowe version and I think that’s the one I prefer. Kevin Costner has a great voice to calm and comfort, but Russell Crowe’s voice, and the choice of dialogue used in this particular teaser tends to inspire. Which is what Superman is all about. To me at least.
I will say that even though this thing is only about two seconds long, I like how Henry Cavill looks. And that money shot right at the end of the teaser is actually pretty cool. Oh all right….I’m excited for this damn it. I’ll admit it freely.
So take a look at these two teasers, and let me know which one you prefer.
