Details on Lost Girl DVD/Blu-ray U.S. Release

Lost Girl DVD

I briefly wrote about the American DVD / Blu-ray Seasons One and Two of Lost Girl a while back.  In that post, Executive Producer Jay Firestone mentioned in an interview that the upcoming sets would be released uncut.  Just to recap, what airs on SyFy differs slightly that what airs on Showcase in Canada.  This is due to various reasons but it kind of sucks regardless.  I can’t help but feel like I’m missing out on something.

I figured that in due time the first two seasons would be released over here.  Season one is already out and available in Canada through Amazon.ca and I actually contemplated buying that one, figuring it would be the best to way to see it as it was meant to be seen, which is to say, in its entirety.  Jay Firestone put my questions to rest, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to get a second confirmation.

FUNimation is a company devoted to being the main online destination for all things Anime.  They are also the company who will releasing the Lost Girl sets and they also hosted Anna Silk, Ksenia Solo and Kris Holden-Ried at the panel and booth at Comic-Con.  They seem fully invested in this show and seem to be pulling out all the stops.  I figured it wouldn’t hurt to hear it from the horse’s mouth so to speak so I emailed them and asked if they could verify what Jay Firestone said about the release.  The following is the email I got back from them.

Hi Tracy,

Yes we can verify that our release will be UNCUT, and will feature the footage not shown on SYFY. ^_^ We even confirmed that recently on our official tumblr page in the post here: http://takelostgirlhome.tumblr.com/post/29149244092/get-vexd-all-over-again-next-week-the-lost, which feeds into our official website: takelostgirlhome.com In case there’s anyone else you may know who is curious, so you can have something to point them towards that’s been publicly posted by us.

Our release will also come with about 30 minutes of extras. And the first printing at the very least will come with a specialty printing on the packaging which will make it very nicely eye-catching. Once final product arrives in our offices, we plan to make a video so fans can see exactly how all the packaging will look, at which time we’ll post about it on our website. It’ll be visual eye-candy for our show and tell. We want the fae-natics to feel confidant, and excited about the awesomeness they’ll be getting! Let’s face it Bo is so faenomenal we had to do something special for her. ^_~

And the above items are true for both Season One, and Season Two as well (i.e. uncut footage, extras, and specialty printing)

So there you go, question answered, plus some more tidbits too. Thanks for being a supporter of the show!

So there you have it Fae-natics.  Oh and one more little tid-bit….Season One will be released on October 23, 2012, and Season Two is due to follow in November.  The show is currently filming Season Three, which will air on SyFy starting in January, 2013.  And just for fun, here’s a pic that FUNimation posted of the group at Comic Con.
