The Goddess Goodie Wrap – 10/19/12

Goodie Wrap Header - Large

Well would you look at that.  The Goodie Wrap is crawling out of its hidey hole to make the rare appearance.  I guess you could say that the GGW is like Punxsutawney Phil in that it only emerges only once a year or so.  All of that aside though, because I’ve got some stuff to share.  It’s the usual mix of useless stuff that one doesn’t really need, yet must have and trivial knowledge that may not earn you a Master’s Degree, but will decimate all in a random trivia contest that will no doubt take place after too much alcohol has been consumed only to realize later on that you don’t remember you won or what that bet was you made with your friends.  Best to just take a gander and leave it that no?

Werewolf Hunting Experience

Ok, before you get all excited and immediately click the link to sign up, this actually takes place in Birmingham.  England….not Alabama.  It’s actually offered as a stag weekend package (that’s bachelor party for us Yanks) and you get the spend the night hunting a “werewolf” military style.  I’ve seen the zombie runs that are hosted here in the States, but a werewolf hunt?  I’m left wondering if this is such a good idea.  I guess as long as it’s not live ammo, it would be OK.  But the site mentions using explosives, which don’t get me wrong, is pretty cool….but probably not a great idea if alcohol is involved.  But hey, to each their own right?  If this is your thing, go get your werewolf hunt on brother! Haunted Mansion For Sale

It’s the actual Haunted Mansion of course, but a replica….built by Disney contractor Mark Hurt.  Hurt is selling his 10,000 SF, seven bedroom, six bathroom home in Duluth, GA. so that he can move on to “an even more ambitious project.”  I would sure love to see just what that project is.  Seriously.  So…if you have a cool $873,000 to spare, make an offer on Ebay. CAKES!!!!!

Because everyone knows I love cake.  I also love to bake.  I spend more time in the kitchen during the fall/winter months than I do the rest of the year so I figured I’d throw in a couple of really cool cakes.  The first, in celebration of Tim Burton’s new film Frankenweenie, is a themed cake that goes right along with Halloween.  The second, is a different type of celebration altogether, a Halloween themed Star Trek wedding cake.  I love the look of both of these and am once again, green with envy over the level of skill these bakers have.  The third picture sums up how I think a lot of people feel about cake in general.  (via That’s Nerdalicious)

 Skyrim Themed Basement

I don’t know squat about Skyrim.  I know it’s a game….that’s about it.  Comic Book artist Tyler Kirkham, who owns this house, more specifically, this basement, must know all about it because he’s decorated it in a Skyrim theme.  I may not have an appreciation for the game, but I sure as hell have an appreciation for the decor and the love of the game that he clearly has.  Plus, I’m a sucker for themed rooms.  They’re just….cool.  If they’re done right….which this one is.  (via Nerd Approved)

Hobbit Bedroom

And speaking of themed rooms, this one is also pretty sweet.  The guy who created it goes by the name Florian and was crowned Fan of the Week by The Hobbit Facebook page for his efforts.  This looks exactly like a room you’d find in Middle Earth, and while I applaud his efforts, I’m not sure I could sleep here.  It’s a little to sparse for me.  But I do admire the work and think that it’s pretty sweet.  I wonder what the rest of the house looks like…(via Nerd Approved)

The Iron Throne

One of the things I was most looking forward to when Game of Thrones hit television, was finding out just what the Iron Throne was going to look like.  After reading the book, I had a visual and I was worried that the series wouldn’t do it justice.  Turns out my apprehension was unwarranted because what they created was pretty much what I pictured.  Then Wonder-Con rolled around and I was able to actually sit in it and even get a picture taken.  That was pretty sweet and one of the few reasons I went.  What would it be like to actually own the Iron Throne?  Well, now you can find out.  The good folks at Think Geek are selling custom-made Iron Thrones for the low low cost of $30k.  Of course, it’s not made out of iron….which is kind of a bummer.  But still cool none the less no?  If you’ve got the cabbage, why not.  If I had the cabbage and a theme room, I would not hesitate to adding this to my collection.  (via Think Geek)

Death Star Ornament

I know…it’s not even Halloween yet and I’m already posting Christmas crap.  But this is really cool…and I just saw it on Pintrest.  This lucky soul won this baby at the office ornament exchange and to say that I want one is putting it mildly.  I’m tempted to make one….because no tree is complete until there’s a sparkly pretty Death Star hanging from it…..right? Rebel Bass

Finally!  Someone found the Rebel Bass. (via Pintrest)

Cuddling with Gods

Illustrator Pascalle Lepas wanted to do just that so badly, she actually made it happen.  Apparently she found a site that will print an image on to a blanket so, since she’s got mad illustrating skills, she created a design that when pulled up to her chin, makes it look like she’s cuddling with Thor and Loki.  I didn’t see any mention in the original article about what website she got the blanket from but a quick Google search will most likely solve that.  I haven’t searched yet, because…well frankly, the results would negatively impact my bank account.  It’s that whole self-control thing and my lack of it.  (via The Mary Sue)

Lunchbox Enforcers

We’ve all been kids and we have probably all turned our noses up at the lunch mom and/or dad packed for us to take to school.  Barters, trades, or just plain ignoring what’s in your lunchbox isn’t anything new on the elementary school scene.  This dad apparently has experienced trouble getting his daughter to even touch her lunch so he’s tried including little messages…delivered by different comic book characters to entice her into eating her lunch.  I love these notes.  They’re pretty crafty and props to the dad for trying.  I wonder if it worked.  Two photos are below, but you can check out the rest on Lars’ Flickr page. Custom Car Emblems

Etsy once again brings something awesome and full of win.  Jason Davies’ Etsy store Empira’s description explains all you need to know:

Nerdy and Awesome custom car emblems with sci-fi themes! Geekify your ride by attaching these high-quality automobile badges to your vehicle. These ARE the emblems you’re looking for!

Aside from the BSG themed emblems, there are loads of others to choose from.  There is one specifically that I really should get for my car, but won’t mention it here for fear of my car finding out and punishing me.  Those who know me and my car’s history will be able to pick it out..but shhhhhh, don’t say anything. (via Etsy)

Video Game Tribute

I know this has made its way around the web, but I couldn’t help but include it.  The Ohio State University Marching Band recently performed a tribute to video games in their halftime show when their team played against Nebraska.  Now, I don’t watch football at all, but I did watch this.  A few times to be exact.  It’s a tad long, but totally worth it.  See how many different games you can pick out.

And on one final note:
