J.J. Abrams is known for keeping his productions sealed up pretty tightly.  His latest endeavor, the sequel to his amazing reboot on the Star Trek franchise is no different.  Today we get a peek at just what’s in store with a teaser to Star Trek Into Darkness.  It’s only 66 seconds long, but after watching it three times straight and getting goosebumps each time, I can’t wait to see a full trailer.  Hell….I can’t wait to see the movie!

Word on the street is that nine minutes of footage will be shown in IMAX theater screenings of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey while a full length trailer will be released to the masses on December 17th.  I normally shy away from teasers and trailers for films that I’m itching to see because trailers these days give took much away.  Hopefully since this is an Abrams film, he’ll go light on the spoilery material.

Reprising their roles from the last film are: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho and Bruce Greenwood.  The big evil this time around is Benedict Cumberbatch.  It’s been rumored that Cumberbatch will breathe life into the most famous of Star Trek villains, Khan, but at this point it’s only a rumor.  However, I’ve also included the Japanese version of the teaser with has about 12 seconds of additional footage and the scene at the end seems to allude to the fact that the rumors could very well be true.  But…once again, this is an Abrams film so anything is possible.  It also looks like writers Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, (both wrote the last film), and Damon Lindelof have really turned up the heat this time around.  Basing an opinion this soon may seem a bit premature, but watch this and tell me it doesn’t look like it’s going to be anything short of amazing.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
