I have been chomping at the bit to get this review done because I couldn’t wait to tell the world how rad G.I. Joe Retaliation was. Especially considering just how long we’ve been waiting for this film to come out. Originally slated to come out last summer, it was then pulled and re-scheduled for Spring. I’m not really sure why, although I think I remember reading something about re-shoots. That normally doesn’t bode very well for films, but sometimes things turn out OK. Anyway, I also vaguely remember reading something about them expanding Channing Tatum’s role, because he reprises his role of Duke from the first G.I. Joe film. Regardless of the reason, I distinctly remember being kind of pissed that the studio was postponing the release a whopping 6 months or so. I hate it when they do that. Anyway, this past Friday finally saw the release of the latest actioner starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Do people really still call him “The Rock”? Do I need to include that moniker? Doesn’t really matter anyway, because this….this is all about the movie at hand. It’s a rare occasion where I actually go see a film on opening day mainly because I work all day on Friday’s and am normally too tired to hit up the cinema afterwards. However, knowing that this was going to be an explosive affair (and knowing is after all, half the battle), I had to go THAT NIGHT! So I did. Was it worth the wait? Did the delay in release hurt or help the film overall?
Ok…so apparently you do. Earlier this year there was a whole lot of broo-ha-ha on the web concerning the pilot for the new Wonder Woman series written by David E. Kelley. Who would play the coveted character, what type of treatment was she going to get etc. Then news came down that Adrianne Palicki won the role, which I really had no opinion of. Then….all hell broke loose once pictures of the costume came out.
Right. So with each passing day the news about the new Wonder Woman pilot is getting more and more awful. Perhaps I only think so because I’m biased, I don’t really know. There have been casting choices made that I don’t like. A picture of the logo has been released. And finally….we get to take a look at the new costume. All of it breaks my Wonder Woman lovin’ heart.
