Well crap.  I hate to say that this news doesn’t surprise me, but it doesn’t.  Word came down yesterday that Fox has officially cancelled the J.J. Abrams produced Alcatraz.  The bad news was reported by Deadline, who also stated that Fox decided to give Touch a second season.  Also on the chopping block for the network is their new series The Finder, which airs right before Fringe.

Fox also gave the order to pick up three new comedies, and two dramas.  I have a love hate relationship with television comedies.  If they are more sitcom-y, forget it.  I absolutely detest laugh tracks and refuse to watch them.  If the comedies are more like New Girl or Raising Hope, then I’m all over it.  As for the dramas, I getting a bit tired of the medical / police procedurals and that’s exactly what these new shows sounds like.

Justified

Now that the holidays are but a memory, it’s time to get back to business.  TV business that is.  Television pretty much comes to a grinding halt during the festive season and aside from the holiday specials, we’re forced to watch other things.  Which isn’t really a bad thing per se, but it makes for difficult decision-making.  Should I stream this show I’ve been sitting on for ages or should I watch that movie.  You get the idea.

Since there is a whole lot of TV coming back in the following weeks, I’ve done a bit of a round-up.  Below is a listing of shows (not every single one) returning from their winter break, and shows that are just starting.  Everything is listed by premier date to make it easy.

Super 8 Review: Nostalgia Isn’t Such a Bad Thing

Super 8 Banner

Super 8 was one of those films that I went on a self-imposed blackout for.  I watched the first teaser that was released eons ago, then the first trailer once that was released.  Everything else I ignored completely.  No clips, no interviews, no reviews.  Nothing.  This was one of those films that I wanted to experience with as little prior knowledge about the plot, the creature, or the characters as possible.  That was a good decision.

Saturday Trailer Wrap

Movie-Trailers

When I first started Reel Goddess I made a commitment to myself to not post a bunch of stuff about trailers and news.  There are so many other sources to get that info these days.  That’s not to say that I won’t post news bits here and there, and as for trailers….. I have decided to pick a few at the end of the week and do a little round-up of sorts.  Good idea no? Continue reading “Saturday Trailer Wrap” »
