Game of Thrones: A Golden Crown

Six episodes in with only four to go.  There’s still a lot of ground to cover in regards to all of the different threads, but everything is slowing starting to come to a head and come together.  This week’s episode had a new writer credited and whenever I see her name, it makes me very very happy.  I caught it in the credits and even backed it up to make sure I was seeing right.  Sure enough Jane Espenson worked on this episode and anytime she’s around, excellent writing is a guarantee.  The woman knows how to write complex characters and stories so this episode was a real treat.  I wish I could say the same for some of the characters though because a couple of them didn’t have such a great time.

Game of Thrones: The Wolf and the Lion

During the  opening credits of this week’s episode the ever-changing map focused on the normal areas in addition to a new one.  Even though the Wall and the land of the Dothraki’s were shown, neither location were a focal point this week.  That bummed me out a bit considering what a soft spot I have for Jon Snow, but this episode really kicked things up a notch.  The events of the last few weeks are all coming into play now and things just got real.

Game of Thrones: Cripples, Bastards and Broken Things

Things are really starting to pick up now that we’re getting further into the story.  I would imagine that the rest of the episodes will move pretty quickly.  If this season ends at the same point as the book, they have a lot of ground to cover and things start to pick up with Cripples, Bastards and Broken Things.

Game of Thrones: Lord Snow

Three weeks in and what do you think so far?  We’re starting to get some familiarity with the characters, their stories and the spider webs that make up all of the relationships.  I wonder though, for those who went into the series blind, is it doing a good job of explaining everything? Hopefully it is and people are just as interested.
