Final Thoughts on Lost Girl Season 3

Lost Girl - Cast

After getting hooked on Lost Girl when it started airing on SyFy, I’ve been a faithful follower and advocate of this Canadian import that skirted and crossed a line that most American shows don’t cross.  Back when the first season premiered on SyFy, I was pleasantly surprised that the network seemingly went against the grain and aired the first season without editing the episodes for time and content.  That unedited first season was all part of the bargain that SyFy made to get the series on their network, and unfortunately would be the only season to air in that fashion.  The second season aired immediately following the end of the first, but this time around, edits were made.  The show suffered a bit as content was removed from what Canadian audiences viewed, as well as the lengthy 22 episode (very uncommon for SyFy) season.  The edits aren’t Syfy’s fault as they are made on the production end and those edited episodes are what SyFy is given, but it’s still a crying shame.  There was a bit of a hiatus (although not as long as what Canadians had to deal with) before the shortened 13 episode season three aired, but SyFy stuck by the show and ran it as part of their “Powerful Mondays” line up along with Being Human and the other Canadian import, Continuum.

Year in Television: My Top 10 Hits….and Two Misses

Posted in Television, TV Articles, Uncategorized on December 21st, 2012 by Tracy
Lost Girl Banner

I don’t normally do a Top 10 anything at the end of the year.  Mainly because my lists resemble so much of what’s scattered around the web and a lot of these lists can be redundant, which makes it kind of pointless in my eyes.  However, it was a pretty good year for television and there were quite a few things that I was very pleased with.  As well as a couple of things I wasn’t.  Since the world didn’t end on the 21st like the Mayans predicted, I figured why not go against my own grain a bit, and jot down my top 10 TV hits…..and the two misses.  Yes, these are ranked in the appropriate order according to the world of me.

SyFy Celebrates Two Decades with Two Hour Special

It’s kind of hard to believe that SyFy (or Sci-Fi as it used to be known) has been around for 20 years already.  All that does is make me feel old.  Creaky bones, age and name changes aside, SyFy plan on celebrating their platinum anniversary in style by airing a two hour special on Monday December 10th at 9pm EST/PST.  Actors, directors, writers and producers will all rehash their favorite memories which I’m hoping means we’ll get some behind the scenes footage.  Check out the official press release below.

Lost Girl Season 3 Promo

Posted in Television, TV Articles on September 20th, 2012 by Tracy
Lost Girl Banner

The second season finale of Lost Girl aired on SyFy this past Friday night and I have to say, I’m really really bummed out that we have to wait until January for the season three premier.  Although I shouldn’t complain.  In Canada the second season ended months ago and they have to wait until January for the new season as well.  I have a feeling that Showcase, the network up north, put it off to coincide with SyFy, which if that’s the case….that’s kind of a bum deal.  Whatever the reason, we all have to sit idly by, until our favorite succubus and team of Fae come back to our television screens.

Details on Lost Girl DVD/Blu-ray U.S. Release

Lost Girl DVD

I briefly wrote about the American DVD / Blu-ray Seasons One and Two of Lost Girl a while back.  In that post, Executive Producer Jay Firestone mentioned in an interview that the upcoming sets would be released uncut.  Just to recap, what airs on SyFy differs slightly that what airs on Showcase in Canada.  This is due to various reasons but it kind of sucks regardless.  I can’t help but feel like I’m missing out on something.

Lost Girl Hits Comic-Con

I still have yet to make it to Comic-Con and while it normally doesn’t bug me that I haven’t ever gone, it sort of did this year.  The sheer size of the event is enough to turn me off of it because quite frankly, I’m not sure I could deal with the hordes upon hordes of people who migrate to San Diego for 4 days every July.  Yet each year I do have that “oh man, I should really try to go next year” feeling.  This year I had the “DAMN IT WHY DIDN’T I TRY TO GO!!!!!!” feeling.  If I’m being completely honest, I would have gone for one panel.  That’s it…just one.  The Lost Girl panel.

SyFy Announces Massive Lineup of Scripted (YAY!) and Reality (Booo!) Shows

Last night was SyFy’s big event, their “Upfront”.  It looks like a big party where cast and crew mingle with the suits and they announce all sorts of upcoming projects.  SyFy has come under fire in the past for cancelling great shows like Caprica, Stargate: Universe (which I’m still bitter about by the way) and Eureka (which is currently in its final season).  They’ve also taken some grief over the ridiculous amount of reality shows they’re currently airing as well as their decision to air wrestling.  I know, I don’t get that decision either, but what can ya do?

The Moment I Knew I Was Hooked on Lost Girl

Lost Girl Banner

A few weeks ago SyFy premiered their newest series; a Canadian import called Lost Girl.  If I recall correctly the show will be headed into its third season up north, but we’re lucky enough to start at the beginning with the first season.  I saw the previews and read up on the premise of the show and thought it was an interesting albeit risky undertaking for a network like SyFy.

TV Sneak Peek: Upcoming Series Returns and Premiers

Posted in Television, TV Articles on January 11th, 2012 by Tracy
Justified

Now that the holidays are but a memory, it’s time to get back to business.  TV business that is.  Television pretty much comes to a grinding halt during the festive season and aside from the holiday specials, we’re forced to watch other things.  Which isn’t really a bad thing per se, but it makes for difficult decision-making.  Should I stream this show I’ve been sitting on for ages or should I watch that movie.  You get the idea.

Since there is a whole lot of TV coming back in the following weeks, I’ve done a bit of a round-up.  Below is a listing of shows (not every single one) returning from their winter break, and shows that are just starting.  Everything is listed by premier date to make it easy.
