I don’t even want to waste time with an intro so I’m going to jump right into it.  I will say that the season finale ended with a cliffhanger and most details about the episode will be in this recap so consider that a spoiler warning.  My thoughts on this episode will be included at the end.

Last week ended with Rosen taking a bullet to the abdomen as he was trying to flee Parish’s facility.  This week picks up right where last week left off.  Rosen is slowly bleeding out and begins to have hallucinations of Dani.  Rosen, being the doctor he is, knows that she’s not real, but listens and talks to her regardless.  It’s a good thing too because Dani keeps Rosen moving, awake and focused on finishing his mission.  Rosen knows he needs to get to a hospital, but Dani tells him he can’t, because hospitals have to report gunshot wounds.  Rosen then goes to someone else who can help; an alpha who is able to remove the bullet and manages a temporary fix.  She urges him to seek help, but he’s got other plans.  He has to find Parish and the only lead he has is what Mitchell told him: that Parish will watch with a God’s eye view.  How very cryptic.

For some reason I kept thinking last night was the finale, but alas, that’s not until next week.  Thank goodness too, because this didn’t play out like a finale.  At least it didn’t feel like one….until the end that is.  We saw a different side of Rosen last week, and that plays through this episode as well.  The new vengeance driven Rosen is the one that will be present, at least until Stanton Parish is either dead or locked away in Building 7, but I don’t think it will last.  Cameron on the other hand….well, he’s a different story.  That man has a whole lot of anger.  More than he knows what to do with.  The two of them together can be a whole lot of trouble, and that’s what this week’s episode is all about.

Last week we saw both Cameron and Rosen go off book and work together through their grief to bring down Parish.  Knowing that going through official channels will only get them so far, the two conspire to do things their way, leaving the rest of the team out of the loop.  Things continue that way in this latest episode, telling the others only what they…as the title says….need to know.

The search for Stanton Parish is in full effect and Cley’s team is all over anyone and everyone who is even remotely connected to him.  A newly trained Kat is back, on the team and packing heat now that’s she’s gone through the proper training and she’s pretty excited, recording everything she can.  Each team member serves their purpose and while Bill, Cam and Kat bring people in, Nina spends her time interrogating them.  Things are hectic around the office and Cley gives Rosen another list to comb over.  Rosen questions the methods, but agrees to it anyway.

As if things weren’t sticky before, now that Dani is dead, the hunt for Stanton Parish is going to kick into high gear.  I’m still a bit surprised that they killed her off and even had the thought that maybe she wasn’t dead after all.  Maybe, it was set up so that Parish would think she was dead.  Of course that’s just my over active imagination and too much television getting the best of me.  This episode starts out with Rosen replaying parts of Dani’s childhood in his head while trying to choose a coffin for her to be buried in.  He seems rather vacant and has pretty much disengaged from the rest of the team.  As he goes through the process of planning a funeral, remembering Dani as a child, we also see flashbacks of Rosen being debriefed by Cley, giving him details of the incident that caused Dani’s demise.  The doctor in him takes over and it becomes very clinical.  I found it especially interesting when he used the word “expired” instead of died.

Last week Rosen confirmed that his daughter Dani was the mole.  He confronted her about it at the end and she was arrested and taken to Alpha HQ.  She pleaded with him to send her to Building 7 and implant her with a chip, but he offered her another option; go undercover.  The fact that Rosen had her arrested infuriated Cameron and he made his feelings known.  Things are quite messy to say the least and the season finale is fast approaching.  I think it’s safe to say that it’s all about to hit the fan.  The main question is, who will be left standing at the end?

As if the existence of alphas wasn’t enough, now it seems there’s a drug on the streets called Jump, that gives people alpha-like abilities.  The episode starts with a group of friends who partake in Jump, which is taken like LSD and once it kicks in, they all fling themselves off of the top of a high-rise building.  It’s all rather shocking at first, until you see them walk away as if nothing happened.  Dylan (who is played by the same guy who played Danny in Being Human), the leader of this jacked up pack, recorded the whole thing and posted it on YouTube.  Of course the video came across Bill’s desk, who in turn, takes it to Rosen.

Only a few more episodes before we close the book on Alphas sophomore season.  Is it me or has this one gone by in a flash?  The latest episode sees the return of the comatose kid from a couple of episodes ago.  Jason Miller is his name and he’s back at school causing all sorts of trouble for Rosen and his team.  To start, Nina and Rosen are still working on Senator Charlotte Burton (Lauren Holley), well, Nina is still pushing her anyway, to recall all of the photic stimulators and to erase any record of her dealings with Stanton Parish.  Nina’s ability is causing some problems for the senator however, which Nina notices shortly after.  Nina is also beginning to suffer some effects as well in the form of headaches.

If last season is anything to go by, this puts us at the halfway mark of the season.  Already!  It’s gone by so fast it just doesn’t seem possible.  Summer Glau reprises her role as the tech-savvy alpha, Skylar.  I really liked her role last season and was very happy that they brought her back.  Things are starting to heat up and I have a feeling it’s going to be an all out sprint to the finale, which will most likely end in a cliffhanger.  My only complaint in cliffhangers, especially with this show and Being Human, is the wait is just too damned long between seasons.  Enough about all that though…..let’s get on with the recap to this week’s episode, Alphaville.

After last week’s Nina-centric episode, this week’s proves that you can never really go home again.  When you do, it’s just not the same.  Nina gets a taste of this when she heads back to the office and has to face those members of her team that she wronged.  Namely Rachel.  There’s a whole lot going on with this show at the moment, what with the different story lines and all.  Everyone seems to be dealing with some sort of skeleton and things are all around just kind of messy.

After being absent last week, Nina’s back…with a vengeance.  She’s also in a severe downward spiral and Rosen isn’t aware of just how bad it is until a string of incidents involving people who seemed to have been pushed crosses his desk.  What’s interesting here is that we finally get some back story on Nina.  All that was revealed about her past last season was that when she came to Rosen, she was out of control and there was some sordid past that was never really discussed.  This week we get to see the root of the problem and it’s really no wonder why she’s as messed up as she is.
