With the bulk of the surprises happening in the previous two episodes, the finale of American Horror Story served mainly to tie up loose ends.  Last week we saw Vivien bite the dust after delivering the twins, one of which was stillborn.  The demon-seed child however, ended up in the crazed hands of Constance.  I had my suspicions about how the finale would play out, and even though it didn’t really punch me in the gut, it did manage to surprise me here and there.

It was a who’s who of ghost world in the 11th episode as the majority of the house’s otherworldly inhabitants make an appearance in anticipation of Vivien’s impending birth.  Every one wants those babies bad.  Loose threads are beginning to get tied up, more or less.  There are still some dangling questions out there, but hopefully we’ll get those answers in the finale next week.

First off, let me say that if you haven’t seen this week’s episode, and don’t want anything spoiled for you, turn back now.  There were some reveals this week and even though it was exactly as I suspected, I don’t want to ruin it for anyone else.  We know that Tate is dead and he was responsible for the school shooting.  We also know that Larry has a serious thing for Constance and that his wife set fire to herself and their children because he was going to leave her for Constance.  This episode served as a sort of filler episode to fill in some of the gaps left from previous episodes as well as answer some other questions.

I remember reading about this show before it premiered and if memory serves, I read somewhere that by episode 9, we the audience, would get some answers.  Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have weaved in little answers here and there but there hasn’t been that big A-HA! moment yet.  The latest episode, “Spooky Little Girl”, didn’t really answer anything that I didn’t already suspect, but that being said, I am happy to see that ole Ben made some progress this week.

A lot happened this week, yet not much happened at all.  How can a program show so much but so little at the same time?  We finally find out just who’s behind the rubber, well latex actually, suit so at least there’s that.  Come to think of it I think that’s all we found out.  Oh wait…we actually got to see how former owners Patrick and Chad actually died.

More twists and turns and even an answer or two pepper this latest episode of American Horror Story.  Seven episodes in and with the winter finale approaching, I’m really hoping we’ll get more answers than questions.  Although that really wouldn’t entice viewers to tune back in after the break right?  There’s a lot going on with this show and the audience knows more about what’s going on than the characters do.  This fact leaves me a bit impatient with the characters because I just want them to see what I see.  However if that were the case, this show would be over too quickly.

With each passing episode I’m becoming less and less sure about this show.  I loved the beginning but now six episodes in and I’m losing interest.  The only thing keeping me from ixnaying it is the fact that I really want to see what is gestating in Vivien’s womb.  It’s a morbid curiosity but there you have it.  The events of this week make things a tad more interesting even if the episode as a whole fell kind of flat.

Breaking the mold of starting with a flashback, this week’s second part of the Halloween two parter picked up moments before the first part ended.  If you remember last week, we were left with Crispy Larry banging on the door demanding his money and a startled Violet backing away from the door with freaky Rubber Suit Guy right behind her.  Flash to Vivien and Ben getting home to the alarm going off and Violet is nowhere to be found.  It was an excellent way to end the episode and I had hopes that suspense would boil over to the second part.  But did it?

The marketing campaign that F/X rolled out for their new series, American Horror Story succeeded in piquing my interest.  A haunted house story told as a weekly series from the guys who created Nip/Tuck and Glee on a network that loves to push the boundaries of what the censors will allow?  Ummmm yes please.
